My story
Why I built AquaNote
It started with frustration. Again and again I battled algae in my tank – no sooner had I gotten them under control than they were back a few weeks later. Even worse: my snails didn’t survive. I didn’t know why. I fed, changed water, took care of everything – and yet something was going wrong.
The problem wasn’t my effort, it was my overview. I did measure values now and then, but without any system. A value here, a note there – nothing that showed me how my tank was really developing over time. I only noticed problems once they were already visible: a carpet of algae, a dead animal. Too late.
The turning point came when I started to consistently track every single water value – temperature, pH, KH, nitrate, phosphate, everything. Suddenly I no longer saw just snapshots, but trends. I could tell when a value was slowly moving in a critical direction, long before there was a visible problem. For the first time I could react instead of just cleaning up.
But that wasn’t enough – numbers alone don’t explain connections. Only with the support of AI analysis did I understand how my values actually related to each other: why slightly elevated phosphate combined with rising temperatures drove up my algae risk, and which patterns typically showed up before a problem. Individual data points turned into understanding. And understanding turned into the right measures – at the right time.
The result: significantly fewer algae, a more stable tank, and an aquarium that was finally developing the way I had always imagined.
AquaNote grew out of exactly this experience. An app that can do what I was missing at the beginning: consistent tracking, early trend detection, and intelligent analyses that make connections visible – before a small imbalance turns into a real problem.
